Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy (physical therapy) is a complementary therapy which is carried out under veterinary referral; it enables identification of areas of pain and stiffness and enhances joint mobility. The most common areas of treatment are:
- Post operative rehabilitation for animals with orthopaedic or neurological conditions.
- Conservative management of animals with chronic conditions, such as arthritis, slowing degeneration and treating muscle spasms. Enhancing quality of life for the animal.
A physical exam will establish the area affected before the appropriate treatment can be administered. This normally takes up to half an hour depending on the condition being treated, the patient may require management at home and further sessions at the clinic.
