Canine cranial cruciate ligament rupture is one of the most common causes of rear limb lameness in the dog. Apart from the traditional intracapsular, extracapsular and plateau levelling techniques we are able to perform tibial tuberosity advancement osteotomies(TTA) in the treatment of this injury. TTA uses natural inherent biomechanical forces in the stifle to eliminate the cranial drawer instability and this procedure is signifiacntly less traumatic than many other traditional methods of surgical treatment. As well as lowering the recovery time, the complication rate and long-term return to function of TTAs compare favourably with TPLO's and other anatomical altering techniques. As one of the first referral centres in the UK to be approved by the University of Zurich to peform TTAs, we have an unusually high level of experience with this procedure. What other specialist surgical treatments can CRS offer? We offer the most advanced canine implant for both hip and elbow replacements. The Zurich Cementless Hip Replacement System has been used in over 9,000 dogs worldwide by over 150 surgeons in Europe, the USA, Australia and Asia. The system's long-term benefits compare favourably and exceeds the performance of traditional cemented systems. Biological benefits of the Zurich Cementless Hip include immediate and permanent locking-screw fixation of the stem, full impingement-free motion and rapid bone ingrowth into the acetabular cup. The use of titanum in the manufacture of the prostheses ensures the highest level of biocompatibily and reduces the risk of post-operative infection . Also available Routine treatment for osteochondrosis, luxations, joint arthrodesis and fracture fixation. Investigative techniques include digital radiography, contrast arthrograms, video arthroscopy and MRI scanning. We have full AO/ASIF and external fixator capabilities as well as other methods of fracture repair. Our expertise with the circular external fixator and distraction osteogenesis techniques, used in the correction of limb deformities or limb reconstruction, is an area of particular interest to us.
